Throughout its rich history Patek Philippe has not only become renowned for the refinement and technicality of its collections, but its versatility. The ability to be nimble and adapt to the demands of its customers is a rare, but essential, trait in watchmaking. It is an innovative and forward-thinking approach that is captured by the Aquanaut, a sporty-yet-sophisticated model that has continued to make waves since it was unveiled a quarter of a century ago.

The company injected a breath of fresh air to the women’s watch market when it expanded the family by bringing a feminine touch to this iconic design. The Aquanaut Luce channeled all the distinctive hallmarks of the original, from its silhouette to its checkerboard-patterned dial and matching strap, with its signature octagonal bezel endowed with just the right touch of sparkle. The recent addition of the Reference 5269/200R to the family expands its capabilities further still with the incorporation of a second time zone, making it the ultimate globe-trotting companion.

This function is sleek in execution and incredibly user-friendly. It features two central hour hands, skeletonised for home time and solid for local time, with the latter able to be easily adjusted via the crown without affecting the rate of the movement. This allows the wearer to keep track of the home time when travelling with a quick glance, while the handy day/night indicator avoids any unintended wake up calls. Powering it all is a new quartz movement, offering the unparalleled precision and high standard of finish expected of the manufacturer.

Pleasingly, the two hands can also be superimposed on top of each other when the dual time is no longer needed. This speaks to the nature of the detail that has gone into its balanced and elegant design, pairing a statement 38.8mm rose-gold case with elegant finishing including a stunning 48 Top Wesselton Pure diamonds around the bezel. Meanwhile, the signature Aquanaut style is unmistakable in the textured dial and complementary white composite strap, integrated into the watch for a seamless silhouette and supremely comfortable fit. Refined, yet relaxed, it remains more relevant than ever to the fast-paced lifestyles of modern times.
