Dialled in: TAG Heuer Carrera Green Special Edition

TAG Heuer presents a sophisticated teal take on its classic racing watch, the Carrera

Watches & Jewellery 13 May 2021

Last year saw the TAG Heuer Carrera get a contemporary makeover to celebrate the watchmaker’s 160th anniversary, continuing the legacy of one its most renowned and best-loved timepieces. The handsome new take successfully walked a fine line between respecting the spirit of an iconic design while making subtle tweaks to enhance and refine its appearance.

A new green-dialled model continues to stay true to the aesthetic of the 1963 original, echoing its clean aesthetic and sleek silhouette. It’s in the finer details where the special nature of this latest iteration shines through. The watch is presented in a modern 39mm size, its three snailed subdials – a minute chronograph at 3 o’clock, hour chronograph at 9 o’clock and permanent second indicator at 6 o’clock – not only showcase TAG Heuer’s precision watchmaking but speak to the motor racing heritage of the Carrera, where timing is everything.

Elsewhere, it has been optimised for enhanced legibility and ease of use, right down to the hour and minute hands coated with Super-LumiNova. The star attraction is, of course, the alluring hue of dial, a deep teal in a sunray finish that delicately plays with the light. Meanwhile, with just 500 pieces available, this piece is engraved with the words ‘special edition’ on the caseback. Like the other latest Carrera models it comes equipped with TAG Heuer’s powerful in-house movement, the Calibre Heuer 02, offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
