All the right angles: Oris Rectangular

Oris brings a colourful new take to a classic shape with its Rectangular collection

Watches & Jewellery 1 Dec 2021

Since 1904 independent Swiss house Oris has been making competitively priced watches, these days producing only mechanical timepieces, using in-house designed movements and complications. Fresh out of the trap is the Oris Rectangular – as the name suggests, a no-nonsense, good-looking return for the classic shape. Its new proportions, fresh dial design and lively dial and strap choices make it a classy wristwear option for both men and women.

Design touches include the stainless-steel case with integrated strap, and tapering lug tips that ensure a comfortable fit, while the dial is available in white, blue, anthracite and Bordeaux. Continuing the colourful direction, quick-change leather straps come in yellow, blue, anthracite or Bordeaux. In keeping with its Art Deco inspiration, there are rail tracks that run around the outer edge of the dial and also on an inner rectangle, echoing the silhouette, while a date window at 6 oclock adds to the layout. The elegant piece is powered by the Oris Calibre 561, an automatic mechanical time and date movement, visible through a mineral glass case back. It gets our vote for great value for money.
