Bernard GANT, a miller’s son from the Ukraine, began making shirts over 80 years ago in New York. It was his sons, Elliot and Martin, who convinced Bernard to start selling tailored shirts under his own label. In 1949 GANT Inc was born.
The GANT shirt is somewhat of a style icon now and over the years the brand has pioneered a number of creative features, including the locker loop, enabling shirts to be hung in the locker room; the box pleat, for freedom and ease of movement; and the button on the back of the collar to keep the tie in place.
From the versatile white shirt to the colourful Tech PrepTM Oxford Jaspé gingham shirt, which features an innovative treatment to make the fabric breathable and quick- drying, GANT shirts are still being made with the same passion for style and quality today. From business meetings and dinner parties to weekends away – there’s a shirt for every occasion. gant.co.uk
