Bremont’s founders pay tribute to the adventurous nature of their mother with a new women’s collection
From its very beginnings, British watchmaker Bremont has been a family affair. Founded by two brothers, Nick and Giles English, the business was born out of a childhood tinkering with all things mechanical in their father’s workshop, himself a former-RAF pilot with a PhD in aeronautical engineering. And as you’d expect, their mother was just as artistic and adventurous in spirit, and the inspiration behind a new collection of women’s timepieces that takes its name from the boat their father lovingly hand-built for her.
It marks a rare foray into the female sector for Bremont, following on from the success of such models as its dedicated women’s version of the Hawking Limited Edition. This new timepiece is a slimmed-down take on its classic pilot’s watch, the Solo, and comes in an elegant 34mm size, with a polished stainless steel case made using its sturdy ‘Trip-Tick’ three-piece construction. Inside is a modified calibre 11 1/2’’’ BE-92AV automatic chronometer-rated movement, offering the precision expected from the watchmaker along with a 42-hour power reserve.
The new collection brings its own feminine edge to the signature design. For the first time in its core collections, Bremont has used diamonds – deployed to dazzling effect on both the bezel and indexes. With a total carat weight of 0.7ct, they have been ethically sourced following the Kimberly Process, and are conflict free. Providing the perfect sophisticated backdrop is the dial, presented in white or black Tahitian mother of pearl. The material was chosen not only because of its beautiful reflective nature that recalls the oceans waves, but because its nature means that every dial will be unique and personal to the wearer.
