From footballing legend to national treasure and automotive designer, David Beckham has combined his love for Italian motoring with his passion for luxury design to reinvent two classic Maserati supercars.

This isn’t his first time designing a version of the marque’s Trident MC20 super sports car. When Maserati announced Beckham as its global brand ambassador in 2021, he worked closely with the team to flex his design muscles and create his first tailored supercar. ‘David is the perfect partner to drive our brand forward into a new era,’ commented Paolo Tubito, Maserati’s chief marketing officer.

Now, drawing upon this experience and continuing to push Maserati forward by challenging the status quo, Beckham is once again collaborating with the Italian brand to spearhead the creation of two bespoke designs for the new MC20 Fuoriserie DB Essentials collection.

‘Verde Royale’ Maserati x David Beckham

The range is a curated collection of cars designed by select tastemakers and friends of Maserati. ‘Fuoriserie means ‘custom-built’ in Italian’, said Klaus Busse, head of design at Maserati. ‘Our wish is for [our clients] to express their personality and passion by creating their very own Maserati.’ Every car created under this collection is designed with this mantra in mind: unleash your audacity, set your own rules.

Beckham’s aim for his collection is to inspire car lovers to express their own unique vision of Maserati. He let his personality and style shine through when designing the sportscars, resulting in an extension of his Saville Row wardrobe.

‘Night Interaction’ Maserati x David Beckham

Inspired by the 1967 Maserati Ghibli coupé, the first of Beckham’s designs has a ‘Night Interaction’ blue exterior with tan shade leather upholstery. His second custom design pays homage to the 1986 Maserati Quattroporte Royale. With only 51 units ever produced, this rare design has a green ‘Verde Royale’ exterior with a warm brown leather interior. Each supercar comes equipped with an exclusive metal plate celebrating the Maserati x David Beckham collaboration.

Both DB Essentials configurations are available on request for the MC20 super sports car, as part of Maserati’s Fuoriserie personalisation programme.
