Philippe Starck's new GPS wristband
For watersports enthusiasts, the new Philippe Starck GPS wristband – commissioned by the French voluntary lifeboat organisation Les Sauveteurs en Mer (SNSM) – looks set to become a key piece of kit.
The silicone bracelet has an electronic tag with a SIM card, which sends out continuous GPS location signals to a nominated person’s smartphone.
Pressing the top of the bracelet sends an alert to the smartphone, which can be used for rescue. Currently available in France, the wristband is set to launch across Europe this year.
