Well Suited: Phillips & Thom Sweeney

Phillips London's upcoming exhibition and sale 'Well Suited' combines Thom Sweeney's sophisticated suiting and significant timepieces for one week only

Watches & Jewellery 12 Mar 2019

With a well-earned reputation for being a modern, forward-thinking auction house with a wealth of expertise on collecting contemporary pieces, Phillips London is hosting a new exhibition and sale in partnership with tailor Thom Sweeney. Specialist director of Phillips London, James Marks, has long been a client of Thom Sweeney, whose relaxed but polished British tailoring creates perfect harmony with the watches on display this March.

Both Marks and the co-founders of Thom Sweeney, Luke Sweeney and Thom Whiddett – passionate watch collectors – have come together to personally select the 25 pieces displayed, from significant watch brands such as Philippe Dufour, Romain Gauthier, FP Journe, Richard Mille and Grand Seiko, alongside many more. The highlight of this spring’s event is the sale of the Philippe Dufour Simplicity, of which few have been sold in London, making the sale a must-visit for watch collectors in the city.

Taking place at Phillips’ Mayfair store, a selection of Thom Sweeney’s bespoke tailoring will also be on display – created specifically for the exhibition – and visitors are invited to explore the working cutting room, in which the bespoke tailors will be cutting patterns and garments for the duration of the show.

Well Suited will run from 15-21 March at Phillips, 30 Berkeley Square, Mayfair W1J 6EX. Opening hours are 10am-5.30pm on weekdays and 12-5pm on the weekend
