Nomos Glashütte watches are all about confident understatement. The German brand’s Bauhaus-inspired timepieces are stylish, but manage to be savvy classics, too. Now Nomos has launched a series of men’s watches for the office – whether a hot-desking new media environment or political lobbying organisation, City floor or creative consultancy. The At Work collection comprises 14 large, ultra-thin and striking pieces, based on the popular Tangente, Metro, Orion and Tetra models.

These slender pieces have a number of factors in common: they are all tasteful, smart, well-proportioned with a diameter of 39mm, sit comfortably under the cuff or when paired with more casual wear, and look the well-groomed part, whether in work habitats or after-hours events.

New to the Nomos party is silvercut, the grey dial created after a nine-step process, during which the gold- and rhodium-plated blank is varnished and repeatedly wet-blasted, removing a thousandth of a millimeter every time. There are also At Work versions in the classic Nomos colours of white silver-plated and midnight blue, and the star of the show, that has to be the award-winning Metro design in 18ct rose gold, which maintains the pared-back aesthetic with precious character.

But the main connection between them all is their automatic calibre, the tenth in-house movement from Nomos, ensuring precision and performance. You could call these timepieces automatics for the people, but they are definitely dapper designs for daily duds. And will make time at work pass much more elegantly.
