In the often very serious world of watchmaking, Bamford London’s colourful and playful timepieces showcase just how creative you can get with a dial as your canvas. Its latest special editions not only tap into its signature sense of fun, but also a certain nostalgia, taking inspiration from one of the best-loved children’s shows, Sesame Street.

Here, three of its main characters each have their turn in the spotlight. The always insatiably hungry Cookie Monster takes pride of place on the watchmaker’s signature timepiece, the Bamford Mayfair – his bold blue fur a striking contrast against the matte-black case. For those always thinking ahead to their next meal, as the minutes and hours pass, his arms point towards indices that have been playfully replaced with cookies (some already nibbled…). Limited to 50 pieces, it’s powered by the Swiss Ronda 715 Date quartz movement and comes on a matching blue NATO strap.

Big Bird also makes an eye-catching appearance on the Bamford London dual-time GMT, a run of just 20 pieces. The feathered arms of this larger-than-life character make their way around the dial, which is complemented with yellow highlights and an orange ring to truly make the design pop. The attention to detail extends right down to the colourful GMT hand, a nod to Big Bird’s striped legs.

Elmo’s love of music is brought to life with a 50-piece limited edition take on the Mayfair Sport. Decked out entirely in daring red, right down to the polymer case, here the lovable, charming character is surrounded by musical notes, while contrasting touches of white have been added across the dial to balance out the design. Whichever your Sesame Street favourite, these new timepieces can’t help but bring a smile to your day.
