Hublot channels the spirit of its ground-breaking first watch with a collection of six timepieces presented in yellow gold
When Hublot launched in 1980, it did so with a bang. Its first model, the Classic Original, broke convention with its combination of precious gold with a more casual rubber strap, laying the foundation for a new generation of sporty-yet-sophisticated timepieces. And in the decades since it has stayed true to this pioneering spirit, from unusual use of materials to innovations in skeletonisation and more.
A new collection of six pieces pays tribute to both the watchmaker’s beginnings and continuing evolution by presenting some of its most iconic models in yellow gold, a material close to Hublot’s heart. Perhaps the purest expression comes in the form of the Classic Fusion Chronograph, the first time it has been produced in yellow gold in a diameter of 42mm, paired with a black dial and rubber strap for a clean, contemporary look.
This sleek colour scheme is echoed in two further timepieces. The Big Bang Unico makes its debut in yellow gold in 42mm with a black rubber strap and is equipped with the precise in-house Unico 2 movement. Meanwhile the Spirit of Big Bang cuts an unconventional figure with its tonneau-shaped case, made all the more eye-catching with the choice of material.
Rounding off this new line up is a trio of Big Bang Integral watches. Here the rubber strap has been eschewed for an all-gold look including integrated bracelet, an aesthetic that nods to bold ’80s style while being brought right up to date with the skeletonised dial. This is turned up several notches in two luxurious bejewelled iterations, one pavé set with 768 diamonds, while a second haute joaillerie version dazzles with 296 diamonds and a further 154 baguette-cut diamonds, with diamonds across the bracelet, bezel, case and indices.
