The watchmaker once again looks to Japanese anime for its latest timepiece based on the iconic A384 El Primero

Over the centuries, watchmakers have taken inspiration from a wide variety of sources, from the nature that surrounds them to revisiting their past. However, Zenith looked further afield to the creative world of Japanese anime, drawing from the renowned series Lupin The Third for a special timepiece that launched last year.

By popular demand, it is making a comeback in the new Chronomaster Revival Lupin The Third – 2nd Edition. Demonstrating a natural synergy between the watchmaker and the anime series, this timepiece directly takes its cues from a Zenith model that appears in the Lupin The Third series. It is seemingly based on the A384 El Primero, the chronograph that first introduced the legendary watch movement to the world in 1969.

As well as the signature angled tonneau-shaped case, it features an eye-catching ‘panda dial’, contrasting a white backdrop against the black chronograph counters. Just like the original watch, and the one featured in the anime, it comes on a stylish steel ladder bracelet, adding to the vintage 1970s aesthetic.

Flip the watch over to reveal the special sapphire-crystal caseback, engraved with a drawing of Daisuke Jigen, the partner of the series’ title character Lupin III. Through this you can watch the powerful and precise El Primero 400 automatic movement in action. The Chronomaster Revival Lupin The Third – 2nd Edition is limited to just 200 pieces, available in the first instance at the newly opened Zenith Ginza Boutique in Tokyo, followed by Zenith boutiques worldwide and online in the coming weeks.
