Breitling’s timepieces have long had a reputation for being robust and versatile, and certainly up to the challenge of withstanding any active pursuit you could throw at them. And while you can do more than surf with your Superocean, or take to the skies with the Navitimer, the watchmaker spotted a gap for an all-around sports watch, delivering the same commitment to precision and reliability at a more accessible price point when compared to its other collections.

The resulting Endurance Pro combines colourful and playful style with an ultra-light design, built for athletes but fashionable and comfortable enough for everyday wear. Its professional credentials have already been put to the test, with the likes of Tadej Pogacar speeding to victory at the Tour de France sporting the watch on his wrist.

Breitling is no stranger to putting its watches through their paces in real life scenarios. In fact, its ‘Squad on a Mission’ concept was designed to do just that. Through this, the watchmaker has brought together groups of leaders in their respective fields, spanning aviation, cinema, surfing and more. For the Endurance Pro, Breitling enlisted the help of its superstar ‘Triathlon Squad’, comprised of Ironman champions Chris ‘Macca’ McCormack, Jan Frodeno and Daniela Ryf. If the watch is up to the trio’s tough and varied training, you know it can take a rigorous workout at the gym.

For Ryf, the Endurance Pro hits the mark. ‘I never liked sport watches very much, so having a sport watch that is functional but also stylish is the perfect combination,’ she says. ‘I really love to wear it, not only as a functional watch, but also as a cool timepiece on my wrist when I ride my bike.’

Breitling Endurance Pro

It’s particularly well suited to sports such as cycling thanks to its incredibly lightweight design, achieved through its case made from Breitlight®. This innovative material, exclusive to the brand and introduced in 2016, is 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than stainless steel. Despite these properties, it is also highly resistant to scratches and corrosion, as well as being non-magnetic and hypoallergenic. ‘It is so light you totally forget that you are wearing it,’ says Ryf. ‘‘Also, it fits perfectly on the wrist, so during activities like riding my bike I really enjoy wearing it.’

The high-tech approach continues to the movement. It is equipped with the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 82, which uses SuperQuartz™ technology to deliver performance that is 10 times more accurate than conventional quartz. The watch also features a handy pulsometer scale to keep track of your heart rate during hard training sessions, as well as offering a water resistance of 100 metres for those laps in the pool.

The Endurance Pro is available in five attention-grabbing options – yellow, orange, red, blue and white. Beyond being a fun finishing touch, these bold hues take inspiration from the Breitling Sprint, a sports watch from the 1970s that was produced in the range of dazzling shades you’d expect from the era. The watches come on a Diver Pro rubber strap that matches the colour of the inner bezel ring, while you can ramp up the look even further by mix and matching with one of Breitling’s Outerknown Econyl® yarn Nato straps, constructed from an eco-friendly material made from recycled nylon waste. And let’s face it, we could all use a little extra brightness in our lives right now.
