There is something about beautifully crafted, quality leather accessories that never goes out of style, and you can use them over and over again. As one of the few remaining British luxury leather goods companies still designing and manufacturing in the UK, Ettinger is renowned for its superlative leather craftsmanship, with each of its craftspeople receiving at least five years of training to gain the necessary skills and expertise.

Initially launched in 2018, the Capra Collection takes its inspiration from Ettinger’s early days in the 1930s, when the company’s founder Gerry Ettinger crafted many of the brand’s accessories from refined goat leather. Traditionally sourced from the arid North African landscapes of Morocco, before being imported into Europe, goat leather is extremely soft, supple and lightweight, yet very durable and naturally water-resistant, which makes it an ideal leather for making many products, especially flasks.

Almost 100 years after his father, the company’s current CEO Robert Ettinger has gone back to the same tannery in Mazamet, south-west France, to source and refine the finest goat leather, before having it carefully crafted into exquisite new accessories at the brand’s English factory in Walsall, near Birmingham.

The successful Capra line has been expanded further with new additions of various leather accessories, which all celebrate the best of the company’s heritage and tradition, but refresh it with modern design and contemporary colours. A versatile and sophisticated new colour option, Forest Green, has recently joined the ever-classic navy blue, black and tan colourways already available.

Alongside the core Capra Collection, comprising luxurious leather essentials such as purses, passport holders and travel pouches among them, further products have been added to Capra, including a double watch roll, a small zip box, large zip box, pill case, glasses case, magnetic cash clip, 4oz hip flask, 6oz hip flask and an 8oz hunter flask with 4 cups – all perfectly timed for the festive gifting season.

‘The combined softness and resilience of goat leather works well for everyday life demands, and, while we eagerly await a return to “normal” life and travel, our customers can choose new personal accessories for themselves or as gifts for family and friends,’ says Robert Ettinger. Every detail of each leather item has been carefully considered both outside and inside, with each of the products being lined with a silver-grey Ettinger-monogrammed jacquard lining as standard. And, where extra softness is required to protect the accessories kept within the products, sumptuous tonal pig suede is used. What’s more, all of the colour options have the Ettinger logo and Royal Warrant embossed in silver, but to add a thoughtful element of personalisation, most of the items have the option of embossing up to five personal characters – using a unique set of characters commissioned especially by Ettinger – in either blind (no foil), silver or gold, for an extra £30. ‘Buy once, buy well’ remains key to Ettinger’s brand philosophy. And the best thing? The pieces get better with age, so you can expect them to last a lifetime and beyond.
