The all-electric Mercedes EQS is a technical tour de force
The Mercedes S Class has long held the title as the world’s best saloon car. Many an executive’s heart sinks when they emerge from the airport arrivals hall to see that their chauffeur has gone off-piste and bought something new and quirky, but crucially not an ‘S’. Heaven forbid, they may even have completely taken leave of their senses and bought something not made in Germany.

The ‘S’ in the Mercedes all-electric ‘EQ’ range was always going to have big boots to fill if it wanted to wear that letter, albeit with all-electric power. It is a technical tour de force. There will be things you will find out this car can do many days and perhaps even weeks after your initial introduction, such is the depth of its capabilities. The 55-inch Hyperscreen is a standout new feature and hard to ignore.

We’ve come a long way since buying a pine-scented cardboard tree to cheer up the interior of your car and mask the smell of cigarettes and petrol.
