Yves Salomon releases second interiors collection

Paris is the home of Yves Salomon, a fashion house whose story is one of generational craftmanship, luxury fashion and exceptional fur. ‘When I first joined the family business, I saw an opportunity to develop a fur brand that would evolve into a full-fledged fashion house, collaborating on fur pieces with some of the most influential designers of the time – Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Sonia Rykiel, to name a few,’ says Salomon.

For the Yves Salomon team, perfection is not just an art, but a science, supported by its in-house research and development laboratory. Here, materials are sourced from the finest suppliers and transformed into the highest quality fabrics – luxurious silk, premium cashmere and shearling.

A fur house at its core, the maison’s seasonal ready-to-wear collections build on a legacy of fabric innovation and design. These range from sculptural shearing techniques that reveal intricate patterns, to richly dyed and embroidered surfaces that push the materials’ limits. Alongside these innovations, the Pièces collection offers garments fashioned from upcycled vintage skins. ‘It’s important to remember that fur, by its very nature, is one of the most sustainable materials in fashion: our coats are made to last, be recycled, transformed into new garments, and passed down through generations,’ says M. Salomon.

Now the maison has brought that same savoir-faire into the realm of interiors. Yves Salomon Éditions ignites a fresh direction for the brand with yearly collections from exclusive designers and talented artists.

Last November, the maison reached out to Parisian artist Pierre Marie, and within months, a collection was born. ‘We discovered a deep shared love of materials and a particular sensitivity to colour. Things then moved very quickly. By December I was presenting my first ideas, and we brought the entire collection to life in under three months,’ says Marie, reflecting on its whirlwind debut at Milan Design Week. ‘I thought: if we are presenting at the Salone del Mobile, the world’s most prestigious stage for furniture design, we need a strong, image-driven project.’

Known for a vision equally as rich in depth as it is in colour, the artist let his imagination (and palette) run free. From stools to blankets, cushions and lamps; Marie has transformed everyday domestic objects into playful intarsia masterpieces and colourful works of art.

The 17-piece collection is a love letter to lambskin. From one fabric a world of inspiration was unlocked. ‘My stimuli ranged from Uzbek suzanis (which can be used as wall hangings) and Persian carpets, to the graphic clarity of the Wiener Werkstätte,’ Marie continues. ‘Not to mention the long history of zoomorphic objects in design, from Etruscan incense burners to the more contemporary work of Les Lalanne.’ The result is a suite of objects as well suited to the drawing room of a country estate as they are to a statement corner of a modern townhouse.

From inspiration to craftsmanship, a high level of skill was paramount. Intricate interlacing forms and repeated motifs grace the throws, while chairs shaped as sheep and technically ambitious pendant lamps show off the atelier’s elevated artistry and precision. ‘Each pennant is lined with sky-blue glazed lambskin, and all structural elements – from the suspension cord to the metal fittings – are fully covered in shearling,’ explains Marie.

While only the second furniture collection, following its 2024 debut edit, Yves Salomon Éditions promises to be a long and decorative journey. ‘As our brand continues to evolve, one thing is certain: new projects and creative ventures are always on the horizon,’ shares Salomon.
