Way to go: Jeep updates the Compass

The compact SUV gets a refined design and a new assembly location

Jeep has always traded on its ability to bring a slice of Americana to the streets of the UK, yet where its latest Compass is to be built is significant. The 2022 model will be assembled in Italy, exclusively for the European market, and that should alleviate previous supply and option choice issues, combined with a refined new design, complete with the iconic seven-slot grille. The interior is also a step up from the outgoing model with decent-size touchscreen and smartphone capability available on the higher-level models. It competes in the fierce compact SUV market, but Jeep will be hoping that its extensive 4×4 expertise will give it a leg up. Although not where most compact SUVs will ply their trade, the Jeep Compass will certainly be near the top of the class when it comes to true off-road ability.
