In early February, leading luxury menswear brand Zegna launched the Triple Stitch™ Secondskin, the latest iteration of the house’s Luxury Leisurewear shoe, which is inspired by the handmade stitches used to close lapel buttonholes on Zegna jackets.

Highly trained artisans at the brand conceived of Secondskin leather when they were struck by the idea to use calfskin glove leather to craft a new type of shoe.

In order to create a second-skin-like feel worthy of the name, they incorporated a lightweight toe counter, a very fine lining and a Strobel insole. They also sourced the finest New Zealand calfskin, on which they used specialised tanning techniques. The result is a material that is only 0.8 millimetres thick and whose qualities make for well-fitting, comfortable uppers.

The new slip-on model is soft, lightweight and crease-resistant, ensuring its smoothness and rich appearance are preserved over time. It is also characterised by remarkable form-retaining “memory”, its leather moulding to the shape of your foot, maximising comfort.

With qualities that make these the perfect travel companions, the release coincides with a new “Airplane Mode” campaign that juxtaposes the new shoes with the world of private air travel, and the heights, you might say, of quiet luxury.

The Triple Stitch™ Secondskin employs a similar silhouette to its predecessors, which are the most frequently worn shoes on private jets in the world. It also inherits their trio of lacing crosses, and colourways inspired by the natural beauty of Oasi Zegna’s Piemontese landscapes.

Secondskin leather will remain exclusive to Zegna for the next three years.
