Zenith looks to vintage aircraft for the inspiration behind a silver addition to its bold Pilot line

When it comes to big, bold aviation watches, Zenith’s Pilot delivers both on stylish, functional design and strong vintage appeal. The collection draws from the watchmaker’s heritage in some of flight’s most important moments, notably accompanying the pioneering Louis Bleriot on his history-making voyage across the English Channel in 1909. The influence from these early chronographs is unmistakable, from the silhouette of its sizable case with oversized crown, to its highly legible dial with large luminescent Arabic numerals and “cathedral” hands for optimal readability.

The Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Silver builds on these hallmarks, while also taking inspiration from the construction of the historical aircrafts themselves. Taking its cues from a plane’s fuselage, it is the first model in the line to be presented in sterling silver, with a matching coloured dial that features riveted detailing recalling the look of metal panels.

The attention to detail extends right down to the handsome brown calfskin leather strap, with a rivet and silver pin buckle inspired by vintage pilot helmets. The watch is powered by another classic piece of Zenith design, the El Primero movement, offering a power reserve of 50 hours.
