Time for change: Piaget’s Extraordinary Women

The esteemed watchmaker and jeweller celebrates ten outstanding women innovating across the worlds of culture, philanthropy, business and more

‘Always do better than necessary’ was the motto of Georges-Édouard Piaget, the founder of luxury watch and jewellery house, Piaget. Over the centuries, the Swiss company has not only embraced this instruction but become a trailblazer in the worlds of horology and high and fine jewellery, creating stylishly beautiful pieces displaying ground-breaking inventiveness, technical innovation and execution. So when the brand decides to honour contemporary women, it reaches out to high achievers from around the globe to represent Piaget’s Extraordinary Women.

Piaget’s Extraordinary Women

Celebrating ten accomplished and driven women, regarded as ‘exceptional in their fields’ – ranging from cinema, art, music, to entrepreneurialism, design and philanthropy – they are talented people who are also often involved in some form of advocacy and use their voices and skills to empower others. The list includes the American actress Jessica Chastain who, apart from her critically acclaimed work on screen, is active in the Time’s Up movement – a legal defence fund that supports women who have experienced workplace harassment and abuse.

Another of the outstanding women is Chen Man, a Chinese visual artist who studied photography, and whose work often blurs the boundaries between fashion and artistic photography. She has shot stories for many illustrious magazines, and campaigns for notable brands, and has the distinction of having her work exhibited in the permanent collections at the V&A Museum, among others worldwide. She was chosen to shoot the ‘Extraordinary Women’ campaign for Piaget featuring the movers and shakers, wearing beautiful pieces from Piaget’s jewellery and watch collections, capturing each woman’s own sense of style.

All the Extraordinary Women have taken control of defining who they are – independent, creative, generous, fun – and have worked hard to achieve their success. A series of videos of conversations with the inspirational ten will share their achievements and life lessons, aiming to inspire other women round the world to be fearless and support each other. It’s clear that each of these ten women have taken the ‘better than necessary’ message to exceptional lengths.
