ThruDark’s new mountain pro collection is designed to withstand the world’s most extreme conditions
It’s the mark of a good product when it’s used by the brand’s founder. Better still when it’s been tested in the most extreme conditions on Earth: the death zone of Mount Everest. And that’s exactly where ThruDark co-founder Anthony “Staz” Stazicker (founded with Louis Tinsley, pictured) put his brand’s Mountain Pro kit to the test – a layering system built to withstand whatever the mountain throws at you, including, as he discovered, the force of an avalanche.
As you might have gathered,ThruDark’s clothing isn’t made for casual climbers. Designed for true mountain professionals, the Mountain Pro collection equips elite mountaineers with everything they need to tackle time on a rockface – including breathable merino-blend base layers reinforced with Cordura, wind- and water-proof trousers strengthened with Pertex, and soft-shell jackets featuring inbuilt Recco rescue technology.
‘The beauty of having great clothing in that kind of environment is that you don’t think of it because it’s performing perfectly,’ says Stazicker. ‘We want to make a real difference to the mountain professional.’
