Take to the skies: Longines Spirit Titanium

Longines pays homage to the world of aviation with a lightweight, titanium take on the vintage-inspired Spirit

When Longines launched its Spirit collection last year, it aimed to pay tribute to some of the great pioneers throughout its past that have undertaken incredible feats guided by the watchmaker’s precision timekeeping. And with figures such as the ground-breaking aviator Amelia Earhart counted among those prestigious names, it required something truly special that would pay fitting tribute while retaining that same innovative nature that drove them to complete these historic achievements.

The Spirit did just that, with a handsome vintage-inspired design that stayed true to Longines’ rich heritage in aviation while retaining a contemporary appeal. A new update takes this modern edge a step further, presenting the design in sleek Grade 5 Titanium. From a practical aspect, the material is both lighter and more hard-wearing than steel, improving comfort and wearability. It also lends it a distinctive aesthetic, with a slightly darker appearance as well as an on-trend matte look.

Here, this has been paired with an anthracite dial, purposely without a date to enhance the clean, symmetrical design. Luxe touches appear in the hands, numerals and motifs, rendered in a mellow gold colour, while the case and bracelet has been satin-polished to create a seamless finish. The choice of straps is equally contemporary, with the watch presented with an interchangeable titanium bracelet as well as a versatile Nato-style nylon option that reflects the colours of the dial.

At the heart of the Spirit is Longines’ automatic movement, which is equipped with a silicon balance spring for added precision, and COSC-certified as a testament to its accuracy and reliability. As a further guarantee of the quality of its timekeeping, it also comes with a five-year warranty as standard.
