Mercedes’ final collaboration with the designer is refined S-Class edition

Mercedes has launched what will, sadly, be its last collaboration with the late fashion designer and creative director, Virgil Abloh. Previous partnerships have given us Abloh’s unique take on the iconic G-Wagon. The latest project, completed before his death in November, is a special edition of the S-Class luxury saloon. Limited to 150 cars, it features a distinctive two-tone lacquered black and sand colour scheme. The two-tone theme continues inside with high-pile floormats, black painted window frames and the Virgil Abloh logo on the centre console and headrests.

The accompanying fashion collection is designed in collaboration with Off White

Mercedes has also released a capsule clothes collection designed by Abloh together with Off-White, the Italian luxury fashion label he founded, connected to the Project Maybach electric showcar. This features pieces in the same colours as the car and includes sand-coloured cotton T-shirts and cotton fleece crew necks, plus hoodies, baseball caps and racing gloves made from canvas, neoprene and suede, coated with a black spray effect and embroidered. Abloh, called a real “cultural visionary”, was a big car enthusiast and redefined what a collaboration between the automotive and fashion worlds could look like, bringing new perspectives and applying his “question everything” approach.
