Nomos Glashütte presents its popular, classic Ludwig in two new case sizes

In its 30-year history Nomos Glashütte has become a master of pleasingly clean design, delivered with brilliant, yet surprisingly affordable, in-house watchmaking. While known primarily for its minimalist Bauhaus-inspired aesthetic, its popular Ludwig collection marks something of a departure, albeit a small one, for the brand. For one of its most classic timepieces, it has looked to traditional pocket watches, as well as Glashütte’s own long history as the centre of German watchmaking, to inform its timeless look.

Of course, these influences have been interpreted through Nomos Glashütte’s unique eye, resulting in a timepiece that is reassuringly familiar yet retains the watchmaker’s instinct for pared-back, uncluttered dials. This year, the family has been expanded with the addition of two new cases sizes, a larger 38mm and a petite 33mm. Both are presented with elegant white enamel dials, with heritage touches coming through in the Roman numerals, fine indexes and railroad minute markers.

They come powered by Nomos Glashütte’s renowned, in-house Alpha, a trusty workhorse of a movement that ticks in more of its watches than any other. Just as considered is the pricing; the two-handed Ludwig Duo 33 starts at just £1,060, while the Ludwig 38, complete with small seconds counter, is available from £1,580.
