Ahead of the Tour de France, Tissot reveals a road-worthy new timepiece

When it comes to professional cycling, timing is everything, and for the past six decades Tissot has been tracking the success of the some of the sport’s greatest names. As well as holding the title of ‘Official Timekeeper’ and ‘Official Watch’ of the Tour de France, it also partners with other famed races included the Vuelta in Spain and, for the first time this year, the Giro in Italy. It’s innovative timekeeping systems enable it to measure competitors with exceptional precision, from bikes fitted with transmitters to the photo-finish cameras as they cross the finishing line.

This year, the postponed Tour de France will be kicking off at the end of August, as the competitors make the gruelling journey through the race’s challenging route. To mark the occasion, Tissot has created the Supersport Chronograph Tour de France – a sporty, practical timepiece equipped with everything a serious cyclist needs.

When on the road, it’s essential to be able to read the dial with a single, quick glance. With this in mind its ergonomic and aerodynamic design features large hands for added legibility, with a large seconds hand in eye-catching bright yellow. Other handy features include the tachymetric scale on the bezel, which can be used to calculate a cyclist’s speed over a given distance.

Fans of the Tour de France will welcome a number of special touches seen across the special timepiece. The watch is decked out in the race’s signature yellow hue, including the counterweight on the seconds hand that takes the form of a bicycle. The rugged 45.5mm case features chronograph push buttons that have been given a black band reminiscent of a tyre, while the case back is engraved with the Tour de France logo.
