Bell & Ross presents an enhanced take on its popular radar-inspired timepiece in tough ceramic

Bell & Ross was born out of an appreciation for aviation and its legacy of technological advancements and precision instruments throughout history. In 2011, it launched the bold Red Radar, its distinctive graphic design taking direct cues from the piece of equipment from which it takes its name. This year, the popular model returns, carefully reimagined and enhanced for this limited series of 999 pieces.

The inspiration is unmistakable on the dial, formed of rotating discs designed to reproduce the scanning motion of a light beam on a radar screen. On the new BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic is the addition of two screen-printed aircraft that circle their way around a passenger plane on the outermost disc displaying the hours, accompanied by a speedier fighter plane on a smaller disc showing the minutes.

This playful design has some serious high-tech credentials too. The two ultra-light discs are robust and made with preserving the power reserve in mind. Further attention to detail comes through in the hour scale, printed on the inside of the sapphire crystal to protect it from scratches and abrasions. Meanwhile, the choice of ceramic for the case ensures the watch is hard-wearing whether taking to the skies or for more grounded pursuits.
