Richard Mille showcases its in-house know-how with a technical new flyback chronograph

From innovative use of materials to futuristic design, Richard Mille has made its name pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking. And its latest timepiece, the RM 72-01, is no exception, presenting a true technical showcase of the brand’s in-house expertise.

The watch sees the outing of the brand’s first flyback chronograph entirely developed and designed in house, a painstaking process that took 30 months.

The complication incorporates a number of innovations, including a patented double oscillating pinion mechanism that enables the chronograph to have little impact on the power reserve of the watch. It also allows for the Calibre CRMC1 to remain slim in size, clocking in at just 6.05mm thick despite being comprised of 425 different components.

Rethinking the traditional chronograph, the RM 72-01 enables the wearer to time longer periods, offering both 24-hour and 60-minute counters positioned at 5 o’clock and 2 o’clock respectively. Meanwhile the automatic watch offers an impressive power reserve of 50 hours irrespective of how much the chronograph is used.

This accomplished watchmaking is packaged in Richard Mille’s signature tonneau-shaped case design, available in four different materials: 5N red gold, titanium and black or white ceramic.
