Science fiction meets watchmaking in Hamilton’s new timepiece in honour of the latest The Matrix film

When Hamilton unveiled the very first digital watch in 1970 it could have been straight out of a science fiction film. Not only for its space-age design and distinctive curved silhouette, but its revolutionary timekeeping system completely devoid of dial or hands. Instead, numerals flashed in red against the black screen in a display that was as novel as it was highly functional.

The watchmaker revisited this classic from the archives last year in the PSR, which now returns in a limited edition in celebration of another forward-thinking classic, The Matrix. It provides a fittingly high-tech tribute as the film franchise gets its latest outing with The Matrix Resurrections, complete with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their iconic roles as Neo and Trinity.

The sleek all-black timepiece retains the retro look that made the original Pulsar such an enduring classic, updated with futuristic touches that nod to the film. Here, the LCD numerals have been turned a bright green, while the famous digital rain pattern is inscribed on the case back. Limited to 1,999 in honour of the year of the original film’s premiere, it also comes in special packaging to complete the theme.
