Jaeger-LeCoultre presents an eye-catching red take on its iconic Reverso
When it comes to sports watches, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso may not be the first timepiece that comes to mind, with its sophisticated aesthetic and signature Art Deco silhouette lending it a distinctly dressier feel. However, the design is considered one of the first of the genre, conceived in the early 1930s to withstand the polo matches of the British Army officers in India.
Its hardy nature is thanks to its ingenious construction, which sees the dial completely flip over to protect the delicate front glass during even the toughest of tournaments. Incorporating functionality without sacrificing on style, the model has become an enduring favourite within Jaeger-LeCoultre’s collections over the decades, marked out by distinctive features including its rectangular shape and three straight-line gadroons that define the upper and lower edges of the case.
For 2020, the watchmaker has introduced a bold red version of its Reverso One, which incorporates an elongated case inspired by the first Reverso Lady model from 1931. The depth of colour of the dial has been achieved by applying multiple layers of lacquer over an intricate sunray guilloche pattern, creating a rich, glowing effect. The dial is elegantly framed with two rows of grain-set diamonds, and finished with a shiny alligator strap in a matching red hue.
Like many of the Reverso models, owners can add a secret personal touch to the solid case back of the watch, which can be engraved with a message or bespoke design of their choice.
