The noble ox takes centre stage on Harry Winston’s timepiece marking Chinese New Year
As Chinese New Year approaches we will usher in the year of the ox, a noble animal symbolising diligence and dependability. These are certainly qualities reflected in Harry Winston’s accomplished precision timekeeping, and the watchmaker is marking the occasion with an added touch of its trademark glamour with an eye-catching take on the Premier.
Limited to just eight pieces, considered the luckiest of numbers according to Chinese tradition, the ox is showcased at the centre of the dial. The silhouette of the powerful animal has been crafted from rose gold, glowing majestically with diamonds. Further sparkle has been added with diamonds around the bezel, while 12 o’clock is elegantly marked with an emerald-cut diamond, Mr Winston’s favourite cut.
Providing a dramatic backdrop is the bold red mother-of-pearl dial, which adds a further glow to the timepiece with its natural iridescence. This has been enhanced with an undulating pattern that curves around the lower half of the case, drawing inspiration from the mountainous landscapes found on traditional Chinese paintings.
The 36mm watch is powered by Harry Winston’s automatic HW2014 calibre, which offers a power reserve of 68 hours and is fitted with a flat silicon balance spring to ensure long-lasting precision and reliability. The movement is every bit as intricately decorated as the dial, finished with classic Côtes de Genève decoration, viewable via the sapphire-crystal case back.
