Reservoir looks to the worlds of motorsport and classic cars for its new transparent timepiece

François Moreau launched French brand Reservoir in 2017, leaving behind the world of banking to pursue his passion for watchmaking and precision instruments of the past. It continues the innovative spirit of its predecessors with watches that pay tribute to the ingenuity and distinctive look of such timepieces, while bringing its own contemporary and creative spin.

Timing has always been crucial in the world of motor racing, and it is this fast-paced sport that has inspired the new Reservoir GT Tour Skeleton. This unusual timepiece features an open dial, deftly used to reveal its three complications to full, eye-catching effect.

These include a retrograde minute, with its bold, bright-orange hand that sweeps across the dial – reminiscent of the dials on car dashboards. A power reserve is positioned at 6 o’clock, along with a jumping hour indication displayed on a disc made from transparent Plexiglas. Rather than a highly decorated and ornate movement, the dial reveals clean and modern finishing such as bridges in deep blue and the carved pattern of the differential wheels inspired by English racing cars from the 1950s. Powering the watch is a calibre based on the tried-and-tested ETA 2824-2, to which Reservoir has added its patented module of 124 pieces.
