British tennis player Cameron Norrie partners up with Rado to launch the new Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition watch right on time for Wimbledon

In 1962, watchmaker Rado was launched into fame following the release of the Rado DiaStar, the world’s first scratch-proof watch. Now, Rado creates a versatile range of timepieces and is considered a force to be reckoned with in the world of luxury horology.

Partnering with the no 1 singles male tennis player in the UK, Cameron Norrie, the Swiss brand continues to make headlines. The Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition launched on Friday 30 June, happily coinciding with the start of Wimbledon, and it will come as no surprise to horology and tennis fans alike that the collaboration takes inspiration from the game itself.

‘I’m honoured to release my first limited-edition watch with Rado,’ says renowned tennis star Norrie. ‘It’s been exciting collaborating on the design, and announcing the timepiece during the grass-court season in the United Kingdom brings it all together. It’s certainly perfect timing.’

As you’d expect from a luxury watch worth its salt, the Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition is durable, innovative and elegant. The timepiece features a 42mm polished stainless-steel case and crown, along with a polished stainless-steel rotating bezel and a polished green high-tech ceramic bezel insert. The colour of the bezel insert is perfectly complemented by the green-to-white gradient dial on display through the box-shaped sapphire crystal. With engraving on the caseback, it references the limited-edition series size, which was chosen to reflect the tennis star’s birthday, 23 August.

Furthermore, the second hand tip is coated in yellow Super-LumiNova®, a playful nod to the colour of tennis balls. Tennis is also referenced by a green flange with yellow Super-LumiNova® dots at the 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, 8 o’clock. This corresponds to tennis’s “15/30/40/game” scoring convention.

Complete with three different interchangeable straps, including a green Nato strap, a classic black leather strap, and a stainless-steel bracelet, the watch is delivered with a green leather pouch decorated with Cameron Norrie’s signature, and a Limited Edition certificate.
