J.P.Hackett opens at No 14 Savile Row

Hackett has launched a new store at the centre of the most iconic tailoring street in the world

Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings first met 35 years ago in London’s Portobello Road, which is renowned for its vintage clothes and accessories. They came up with the idea to produce new clothes of the same quality as the vintage clothing they found there, made from natural fibres in traditional English styles.

Hackett has since become one of Britain’s best-known global menswear brands, and it recently launched its new global flagship store, J.P.Hackett, dedicated to bespoke and made-to-measure tailoring at number 14 Savile Row.

The J.P.Hackett store takes over the four-storey townhouse, which is the former studio of British fashion designer Sir Hardy Amies, and the Hackett team worked with British architect and interior designer, Ben Pentreath to restore the Grade II-listed Georgian property to its former glory following a period of disuse.

Bespoke tailoring orders are overseen by dedicated head cutter, Juan Carlos Benito, alongside an exceptionally skilled team of craftspeople, with each handmade bespoke suit using traditional techniques and involving up to 80 hours of painstaking work.

For those who don’t require a fully bespoke suit but still desire a personal service, the made-to-measure option offers customers complete flexibility to create their own suit, with a dedicated design consultation and follow-up fitting at No.14.

Clients can base their suit on one of two tailoring blocks, the Windsor block and the Duke block. Both blocks were developed for the launch of No.14 Savile Row; the Windsor block is a modern British cut, updated with lightweight canvassing and softer shoulders for comfort, while the Duke offers a classical look, with a firmer chest canvas, roped shoulders and an elegant silhouette.

Made-to-measure customers can choose from more than 4,000 luxury suiting cloths and linings, and will have their measurements retained on file to simplify future orders. In addition, an exclusive J.P.Hackett Savile Row ready-to-wear collection has launched to coincide with the opening of the store.

J.P.Hackett bespoke prices start from £4,500, made-to-measure prices start from £1,800; hackett.com/14savilerow
