Rado teams up with cutting-edge designer Tej Chauhan for a contemporary take on its distinctive square watch
When Rado introduced the True Square, it broke the mould as the first square watch crafted from a solid piece of high-tech ceramic. Today, its unique modern-retro look retains the same appeal, revisited in a contemporary new design created in collaboration with award-winning industrial designer Tej Chauhan.
The signature, flowing lines of this distinctive watch is made using injection moulding. Here the case has been rendered in an unusual matte-yellow high-tech ceramic, with a contrasting caseback in cool, dark-grey PVD-coated stainless steel. The striking look is complemented by the bracelet, made from yellow cushion-shaped leather elements held together by ceramic connectors.
Similarly striking is the hypnotic design of the dial. On a matte-black background lies silver-coloured concentric circles, from which radiates hour and minute markers. The time is clearly and legibly displayed with chunky minute and hour hands in contrasting white, with a second hand in neon red. Punctuating the dial is a small date at 3 o’clock, displayed in a typography specially designed by Tej Chauhan.
