Grand Seiko captures the beauty of the cherry blossoms of northern Japan in a special limited-edition 44GS

For a fleeting moment each year in northern Japan, a magical moment takes place when beautiful cherry blossoms start to bloom against a crisp, silvery backdrop of snow. This changing of seasons is a source of constant inspiration for Grand Seiko, which creates its intricate timepieces in a studio nestled amid the calming nature of the region.

It has captured the unique delicate pinky hue of the flowers in its latest timepiece, a limited edition of 1,200 pieces. The subtly textured dial glimmers further still thanks to the box-shaped sapphire crystal on top, allowing the light to illuminate its design.

Its silhouette draws from the elegant form of the Grand Seiko 44GS from 1967, which played an essential role in establishing the sophisticated style we see from the watchmaker today. The svelte and wearable 36.5mm case is made possible because of the slimness of the manual-winding Caliber 9S64 at its heart. Meanwhile, every element has been carefully composed to bring interest and harmony to the overall look. This includes a juxtaposition of flat surfaces and sharp angles, with slender indexes and hands bringing a refined finish.
