Drawing inspiration from the iconic Barbery lion imagery frequently depicted in British heraldry, Aspinal of London has created two silk scarves – part of its new capsule collection – with the king of the beasts taking centre-stage.

Employing a seasonal palette of the turquoise, amber, mustard and topaz favoured by English textile designer William Morris, the designs take references from historic British country houses, and also feature the peacocks that are often seen strutting around their grounds.

Profits from the scarves, designed in collaboration with artist Emma Shipley, will benefit Glen Garriff Conservation, a lion reserve and charity in South Africa, helping to secure the future of the species, which has declined sharply in recent years.
