Add some sunshine to your breakfast at the champagne house’s colourful retro café pop-up in Soho this April

Nothing starts the day like a good breakfast, especially when it comes with a glass of champagne. No one knows this more than Veuve Clicquot, a champagne house built on joie de vivre and a sense of fun. 

From Friday 22 to Saturday 30 April, hungry and thirsty Londoners will be able to celebrate each morning in style with the opening of The Sunny Side Up Café by Veuve Clicquot on Greek Street. The venerable champagne house is launching the ultra-chic twist on a greasy spoon as part of its 250th celebrations with plans to serve eggs and soldiers, waffles and luxury bacon baps with a glass or a bottle of fizz served by the cafe’s dedicated Sunny Sommelier – there to help pair diners’ breakfasts with the correct vintage and share stories from Veuve Clicquot’s lengthy history. To find its Sunny Sommelier, Veuve Clicquot has worked with Be Inclusive Hospitality, a network dedicated to forwarding diversity and inclusion in the hospitality industry.

Celebrated chef Andi Oliver is working with Veuve Clicquot on the cafe’s signature dish, “Andi’s Waffles”, an irresistible combination of waffles, bacon, confit tomatoes and spiced maple syrup that pairs perfectly with a glass of Yellow Label champagne. She said of the collaboration: ‘I am so excited to work with Veuve Clicquot, whose whole philosophy is about audacious women who defy the status quo, boldly and with aplomb! And that is something I identify with entirely. The vibrancy of their ethos and the iconic yellow is irresistible and contagious, not to mention the champagne itself – a true delight!’

Founded in 1772 in Reims, Veuve Clicquot is known for coming to prominence under the guardianship of Madame Clicquot, who inherited the wine production company from her husband in 1805 at the age of 27. Known as La Grande Dame of Champagne, it was under her direction that the winery focused on sparkling wine and became a pioneer in champagne production. The house’s signature Yellow Label became synonymous with superlative quality champagne and the optimism and joy in raising a glass of bubbles.

Sunny Side Up Café will be adorned in Veuve Clicquot’s signature vibrant label yellow and the atmosphere will remain as bright as possible with a carefully curated selection of Sunny Sound Tracks including a specially commissioned rendition of Good Day Sunshine reinterpreted by Canadian singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin. 

Add some sunshine to your breakfast from 8am to 6pm, Friday 22 to Saturday 30 April (except Monday 25 April). Reservations at the Sunny Side Up Café by Veuve Clicquot will be available through Secret London, and walk-ins are also welcome.
