The watchmaker’s sophisticated Overseas Tourbillon gets a handsome new look in blue and pink gold

Innovation has long been at Vacheron Constantin’s heart, not only displayed in its inventive and technically advanced watchmaking but the distinctive and elegant aesthetic of its timepieces throughout the centuries. This year sees the maison focus on the theme ‘classic with a twist’, an ethos not only exemplified through its unique historical creations – some of which are on display at its Old Bond Street boutique this month – but that continues to inform its modern-day offering.

A new iteration of its Overseas is a case in point, taking this popular, sports-chic model and giving it a luxe new look in 18ct pink gold. Inspired by travel and representing the watchmaker’s constant evolution to meet the changing demands of modern living, it brings together its trademark complex and precise timekeeping in a versatile and contemporary package.

Immediately catching the eye is the alluring blue lacquered dial, with a sunburst decoration that delicately plays with the light, presenting a confident contrast to the chic pink-gold case. The latter is 42.5mm in diameter, a size that is both comfortable while making a presence on the wrist, with a sleek silhouette and distinctive hexagonal bezel recalling the shape of the Maltese cross, Vacheron Constantin’s signature motif. A testament to the versatility of the watch, it comes with a choice of three straps that each lend a unique character to the timepiece, able to be easily switched without the use of tools. These include a classic blue Mississippiensis alligator leather strap, a practical blue rubber option, along with an 18ct pink-gold bracelet for a bolder style statement.

As expected from the maison, the craftsmanship and attention to detail extends from the exterior to every element of the movement. It comes powered by the in Calibre 2160, which despite incorporating a technically demanding tourbillon complication measures in at just 5.65mm thick. As well as a small seconds hand on the tourbillon carriage, it offers a sizable 80-hour power reserve. Each of the movement’s 188 components is impeccably crafted, with its fine finishing not only viewable through the open-worked elements on the dial, but via the sapphire-crystal caseback.
