Lightweight design and precision timekeeping come together in this new sporty timepiece fit for a world-class triathlete

Many brands boast of the rugged credentials of their watches, but few actually put them through their paces like Breitling. With this in mind the watchmaker has assembled several ‘squads’ comprising some of the leading names in their respective fields, from champion surfers equipped with the water-resistant Superocean to high-flying jet pilots kitted out with the flight-ready Avenger collection.

When it comes to their Triathlon Squad, an impressive trio made up of Ironman winners Jan Frodeno, Daniela Ryf and Chris McCormack, they require a versatile watch that can withstand the demands of their tough and varied training. This is where the new Breitling Endurance Pro comes in, a sporty, precise and powerful timepiece made for serious athletes, but just as comfortable for everyday wear.

‘When Jan Frodeno first became a member of our Triathlon Squad, he asked me what Breitling he should wear. We started brainstorming about the perfect sporty lifestyle watch and that conversation led to the development of the Endurance Pro,’ explains Breitling CEO Georges Kern. ‘With this watch, we adapted our SuperQuartz technology to the needs of people like Jan who play as hard as they work.’

This colourful timepiece, available in five bright, playful hues, takes its inspiration from the Breitling Sprint of the 1970s. This watch was equipped with a pulsometer to measure heart rate while exercising, a feature that makes an appearance on the Endurance Pro. The new timepiece comes powered by the COSC-certified Breitling Calibre 82, a thermo-compensated SuperQuartz movement offering ten times the accuracy when compared to traditional quartz. Its sporting credentials are completed with its practical, lightweight case, constructed from the watchmaker’s innovative Breitlight material that is 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than stainless steel, without compromising on resistance to scratches or corrosion.

To celebrate its release, Breitling has teamed up with popular exercise tracking app Strava to create a challenge starting from 26 August, with a number of special prizes up for grabs. These include a Breitling Colnago C64 bike and Breitling jersey kits, as well as Breitling Endurance Pro watches. For a chance of winning, competitors have to complete 500 minutes of sports of their choice – whether running, cycling, swimming or more – about the same amount of time it takes a world-class triathlete to complete a full Ironman event.
