Discover A$AP Rocky’s first collection as Ray-Ban’s new creative director

A$AP Rocky (real name: Rakim Athelston Mayers) has officially christened his role as Ray-Ban’s Creative Director with the launch of the Blacked Out collection. The first eyewear line by the artist reimagines some of the house’s most recognisable styles through Rocky’s distinctive design philosophy – classic silhouettes with a contemporary streetwear attitude.

The drop features three models: the Mega Wayfarer, Mega Clubmaster and Mega Balorama. Each takes a traditional frame and amplifies it with chunky, sculptural lines, ultra-black lenses and refined gold-plated details. Adding a personal touch, the tattoo-inspired AWGE logo appears at the temple tips, accompanied by a custom box designed to resemble a stack of $1,000 AWGE bills.

A$AP Rocky was appointed creative director of Ray-Bans in February

From his era-defining Guess collaboration in 2016 to his work with Jonathan Anderson (and ambassador role at Dior), Rocky has long established himself as a cultural tastemaker – with the fashion credentials to match. His appointment as Ray-Ban’s first-ever creative director earlier this year set expectations high, and the Blacked Out collection more than delivers.

This is merely the beginning of what promises to be an exciting new chapter for both. But for now, get your hands on a pair of the stylish sunnies over at Vision Express.
