Dark horse: Hermès

Hermes’ classic Arceau watch has been updated with intricate leather marquetry, inspired by the brand’s equestrian heritage

In 1837, Thierry Hermès opened his first shop in Paris making equestrian harnesses. Now, inspired by the brand’s equestrian heritage, its Arceau watch has been updated with intricate leather marquetry.

Taking six hours to assemble by hand, the patchwork is created on the dials of the 12 limited-edition white gold Arceau models – half are available in Hermès Red and half in Indigo Blue.

There are also 12 limited-edition models with a leather mosaic dial featuring the horse head inspired by the Hermès “Robe du Soir” silk scarf designed by Florence Manlik in 2018.
