Hublot’s innovative use of materials is showcased with a special Big Bang Unico in collaboration with Bucherer
With its Bucherer Blue collection, the luxury retailer brings together some of watchmaking’s top names to create unique timepieces rendered in its signature hue. But beyond the colourful appeal of these creations, they also represent some of the most cutting-edge pieces of haute horology currently on the market.
A new timepiece created with Hublot, which marks the second time the two brands have teamed up for a special line, is a testament to this innovative spirit. The Big Bang Unico Bucherer Blue embodies the watchmaker’s ethos of ‘art of fusion’, showcasing its pioneering approach to materials in one of its most recognisable watch designs.
This new model intriguingly plays with the blue shade and explores how it interacts with light, ingeniously incorporating a number of transparent elements into the design. The robust titanium case is paired with a blue sapphire bezel, transparent blue dial and similarly finished with a translucent blue rubber strap. Hublot has long pioneered the use of sapphire in watchmaking, and here for the first time it is utilising the material in both the bezel and the central segment of the dial, complemented by the titanium components that are central to the case construction.
As well as enhancing the sleek, modern look of the watch, the skeletonised dial displays to full effect the HUB1280 movement. Speaking to the exclusive nature of the watch, it is produced in a limited run of just 10 pieces, available at Bucherer’s London boutiques, the Wonder Room at Selfridges and on Bucherer’s UK website.
