The 10th-floor restaurant at The Standard Hotel in King’s Cross is known for its superlative Spanish-and-Mexican-inflected cuisine from chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias as well as its 70s-chic interior and Studio 54 New York party vibes. Decimo recently expanded its offering to include brunch every Saturday, offering a selection of Spanish and Mexican dishes with a fun and festive feeling atmosphere.

The space

Stretching across the 10th floor of The Standard, Decimo has impressive views across King’s Cross and central London, offering a fantastic perspective on St Pancras Station opposite. The restaurant is finished in the chicest 70s style complete with macrame, plush brown leather, red polished wood and rust-coloured velvet. Decimo’s huge windows make this a light and bright brunch spot and the restaurant plays host to live music every Saturday too, as part of the restaurant’s ongoing Live on Ten series, which only serves to add to the party vibe.

The menu

Sanchez-Iglesias has developed an enticing selection of Mexican and Spanish brunch options for the new weekend service alongside some of the restaurant’s most classic dishes. Highlights include the incredible and oozing, impossibly soft and succulent Spanish tortilla, possibly one of the best in London, which is also available with gambas rojas, and the huevos a la Flamenca, a salty and moreish combination of Iberico ham and fried eggs baked in tomato sauce. Tacos are also central to brunch at Decimo – three variations are available – cauliflower, chistorra and black bean and Baja fish tacos – each as delicious as the next. Order a selection (go heavy on the tacos) as well as a selection of skewers, including mangalitza pork and squid, along with the utterly irresistible fried potatoes with aioli. Sanchez-Iglesias’ signature marinated red peppers are also a must-order as well as the croquetas and silky boquerones. Decimo takes its cocktails seriously and the brunch-appropriate Sevilla Mimosa, crafted from Tanqueray Sevilla gin, orange and champagne, is predictably fantastic.

Decimo is already the place to head to for a relaxed but ever-fashionable good time and night out. Now it has become the place to return to on Saturday lunchtime to keep the good vibes going. The food is meticulously prepared and walks the perfect line between delicious, comforting and elevated.
