In collaboration with Wardian London and EcoWorld Ballymore, Brummell magazine was delighted to host a dynamic panel discussion about the benefits of living in harmony with nature

The event was hosted at the floating Design Cube in Canary Wharf to showcase the innovative, biophilia-inspired Wardian London development and spark discussion about sustainability and the growing trend of integrating nature into everyday life.

Biophilia, put simply, is the affinity of humans and nature. It may not be a new concept, but in an increasingly urban and digitalised world, people are turning to the idea of ‘green living’ more than ever before. The event centred around a distinguished panel of individuals who discussed the subject of biophilia in relation to their area of expertise. The panellists included Irish MasterChef star Robin Gill; Kate Hofman, founder and CEO of GrowUp Urban Farms; Matt Morley, founder of Biofit Health & Fitness and Biofilico design studio, and William Poole, director of Glenn Howells Architects, the practice behind EcoWorld Ballymore’s Wardian London development.

Located adjacent to Canary Wharf, Wardian London is an urban oasis that merges luxury modern living with biophilic architecture. Each apartment in the two-tower complex features a private sky garden and abundant plant life to create a unique outside-in living experience. The development takes its name and inspiration from 18th-century explorer and botanist Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward, who invented a mobile botanical glass container called the ‘Wardian case’. Taking this concept one step further, EcoWorld Ballymore has recreated the Wardian Case on a large and ambitious scale, adjacent to the Design Cube. Guests at the Biophilia event were invited to immerse themselves in the ‘Case’ to experience the benefits of living in harmony with nature. EcoWorld Ballymore has been carrying out extensive research with The Wardian Case and its effects on mood and productivity with local Canary Wharf workers. It discovered that 74% of attendees reported an improved positive effect at the end of their visit to The Wardian Case, while 83% of attendees reported feeling more productive at the end of their visit compared to when they first arrived.

EcoWorld Ballymore is offering guests the chance to use The Wardian Case space as a unique meeting venue for two weeks. For more information and to book a space, please contact Wardian London reception at wsales@wardianlondon.com
