For a limited time only, you can personalise your favourite Birkenstocks at the footwear label’s King’s Road store

German footwear brand Birkenstock has unveiled a new customisation pop-up – Your Blank Canvas (YBC) – at its Chelsea store, inviting Londoners to add a personal touch to its timeless designs. Until 29 March, you can unleash your creativity and reimagine some of the label’s best-loved silhouettes with embellishments, heat stamping and lace swaps.

Among the styles available for a revamp are the iconic Arizona sandals and Boston clogs, which recently marked their 50th anniversary. Also featured is the Utti Lace, a derby-style design in suede or leather introduced last autumn in a palette of understated colours – and which YBC allows you to reimagine into a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

The brand, whose shoemaking heritage dates back to the late 18th century, has built its reputation on continuity without compromising innovation. Its signature footbed – introduced more than a century ago by fourth-generation family member Konrad Birkenstock – remains the cornerstone of the business. The anatomically shaped insole, crafted from cork and latex, is hand-pressed in the Bernstadt and Görlitz factories where each pair is assembled. The pop-up is a way of Birkenstock celebrating its enduring heritage – with a playful twist.

BIRKENSTOCK: Your Blank Canvas is available from Thursday to Sunday until 29 March; 68 King’s Road, SW3 4UD; birkenstock.com
