Briston takes inspiration from the Streamline Moderne movement of the 1930s for its latest timepiece

Recent years have seen a boom in smaller, independent watchmakers offering contemporary and creative designs at competitive price points. Briston is one such brand, with its Clubmaster line winning over watch connoisseurs with its bold, cushion-shaped silhouette and distinctive styling.

It latest innovation comes in the form of the new Streamliner Skeleton, defined by its cambered barrel-shaped case. This retro-influenced piece takes inspiration from Streamline Moderne, a movement that emerged in the 1930s at the tail end of Art Deco. Its emphasis on exaggerated curves is evident in the watch’s case, unusually crafted from smoked acetate.

This attention to detail continues to the complex dial, formed from three superimposed layers. On top is black PVD or steel, adorned with circular-brushed decoration and hollowed-out numerals. Below lies the middle layer with the Briston logo and small seconds indication, followed by a lower layer featuring a traditional Côte de Genève decoration.

The timepiece comes powered by the trusty Miyota 8N40 skeleton automatic movement, manufactured by Citizen, and viewable through the transparent case back. Finishing the vintage look is the leather strap, equipped with a system that allows it to be quickly and easily interchanged.
