This year marks the 100th anniversary of Art Deco, celebrated for its streamlined design featuring clean lines, symmetry and stylised decoration. Its characteristic bold geometric shapes, symbolising order and balance, are the inspiration for Tissot’s striking new feminine watch, the SRV.
The Swiss brand has reached into its archives and created an angular timepiece inspired by a model from 1975, which in turn was a reinterpretation of the watchmaker’s designs from the 1920s. Its angular silhouette comprising a rounded rectangle and faceted glass. SRV stands for “Sapphire Rectangle V”, a nod to both its shape and its five-bar water resistance.
With its characterful vintage vibe, the SRV has contemporary appeal and a strong wrist presence. The new collection features six models: two are completed with a mono-link stainless steel bracelet with tapered links complemented the sculptured case, while a quick-change strap or bracelet system makes for versatile styling.

Dials come in red and green sunray design with complementary-coloured leather straps, deep blue or grey with steel case, and white mother-of-pearl dial matched with beige gold PVD case or black with yellow gold PVD and four diamond hour markers. Each timepiece is powered by a quartz movement with useful (if scary-sounding) “End-of-Life” indicator.
Well known as partners of and official timekeepers for several sports – including MotoGP, the International Basketball Federation and the International Fencing Federation – Tissot is as popular for its women’s pieces as it is for men’s watches. Since it was founded more than 170 years ago, the brand’s history has been enriched by being the wristwear of choice of a legion of influential and significant women, from the legendary French actress Sarah Bernhardt who performed towards the end of the 19th century into the next, to famed singer Carmen Miranda, also Grace Kelly and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Sometimes described as the accessibly priced entry level to the luxury watch market, the brand is known for the quality of its materials and solid construction, representing good bang for your buck. Eye-catching and spirited, the SRV makes a confident, affordably luxurious statement for women.
