The prestigious watchmaker displays its heart and soul in an experiential exhibition at Harrods

Celebrating its 270th anniversary, top-tier watchmaker Vacheron Constantin has created an immersive experience into the heart of haute horlogerie, reflecting on the maison’s history, innovation and craftsmanship. The Quest: 270 Years of Seeking Excellence is a public touring exhibition taking place in cities around the world, and London’s opportunity to delve into the Vacheron Constantin universe can now be found at Harrods.

Inviting visitors on a journey that explores the core values that have defined the maison, the exhibition – for enthusiasts and the curious, as well as the horophile and collector – looks at its heritage and tradition, and also the essence of timekeeping itself. Featuring timepieces, movements, components and watchmaking tools, it’s a tribute to a passionate legacy punctuated by records, world firsts and numerous innovations.

It also showcases the maison’s blend of technical and mechanical ingenuity with artistic vision at every level of craftsmanship and finishing technique – including rare métiers d’arts.

The Quest: 270 Years of Seeking Excellence immersive exhibition at Harrods

The maison’s founder Jean-Marc Vacheron lived by the motto: “Do better if that is possible, and it is always possible”. Pushing the horological envelope is a non-negotiable part of the company’s objectives, however challenging the path, both in its mechanical excellence and in its aesthetic beauty. This can be witnessed in centuries-old techniques for which Vacheron Constantin is renowned, such as engraving, gem-setting, miniature painting, enamelling and guilloché work, while also discovering the complexities and refinements of highly engineered movements.

Métiers d’Arts: Tribute to the Quest of Time is a rare timepiece created for the 270th anniversary

Excitingly, every visitor is also invited to reflect on their own personal quest in an immersive experience that brings together the age-old ties between astronomy and watchmaking. They can choose any date and location – birth date, wedding day – to obtain a precise chart of the sky at that very moment, a reminder of the intimate relationship between the cosmos and the concept of time. It’s this journey – from the heavens to a tiny component in a watch, both engaging in the measurement of time – that has been central to Vacheron Constantin’s quest and explains the true value of a timepiece.
