Crockett & Jones unveils its latest Oxford and a festive addition to the collection

The name’s Crockett… James Crockett. The founder of shoemaker Crockett & Jones, along with his brother-in-law Charles Jones, Crockett started the firm in 1879 in England’s shoemaking capital, Northampton. Today it is the Oxford brand of choice for Daniel Craig’s James Bond

Bond’s creator, Ian Fleming, was a pioneer of product placement in his novels and the Bond franchise has never been shy about making sure 007 is seen wearing the finest clothing and footwear money can buy. Thus, Bond’s entrance into Macau’s Golden Dragon Casino is a memorable moment in Sam Mendes’ Skyfall. Stepping off the gondola and into a floating world of beauty, luxury and mystery, it’s a certainty that 007 will never put a foot wrong in Crockett & Jones’ black calf-leather Oxford, Alex. In the world of espionage, the Alex is a trusted accessory, featuring again in Spectreas Bond, bound for Morocco, enjoys dinner with Madeleine Swann, daughter of the notorious Mr White, and once more in No Time to Die.

Costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb has commented, ‘Bond is known for his perfectly elegant comportment in all situations and in No Time to Die, Crockett & Jones’ shoes are very much a part of that equation.’

With an undisputed legacy, the latest iteration is but another jewel in its own developmental journey. Featuring its characteristic seamless forepart, the wholecut Oxford requires expert pattern cutters working in tandem with a highly skilled laster. New to the design, however, is the introduction of patent leather. And as with any type of leather, only the best will do at Crockett & Jones.

Highlighting every contour of its bestselling 348 last, a classic chisel-toe form and the very heart of the shoe, the choice of patent leather is a statement of the shoemaker’s quality and artisanal craftsmanship. The result is an opulent evening Oxford that is sure to be the weapon of choice for any true gentleman this party season.

And for when your martini glass is empty, Crockett & Jones’ latest seasonal velvet slipper offers you silken comfort with its quilted lining in a festive shade of burgundy. Following on from the success of last year’s Christmas-inspired Albert, this year’s design is embellished with a resplendent Christmas tree and a Crockett & Jones Polar Express edition. Neither comfort nor Christmas spirit is in short supply with these sumptuous slippers, which will bring a touch of luxury to quiet moments of relaxation.
