Spiral Cellars releases a customisable storage solution for showcasing wine collections anywhere in the home

Since it was founded over 40 years ago, Spiral Cellars has designed and installed a great variety of sophisticated wine cellars. Many of the options in its offering require either digging a hole in the home or allocating an entire room to a customer’s collection. In the first case, the company then fits a spiral staircase encircled by alcoves for the wines, the finished product a descent into a Dionysian sanctuary.

Though these cellars look spectacular, they aren’t for everyone, being costly and requiring substantial changes to a home.

Fortunately, the brand prides itself on satisfying the demands of every customer. Indeed, if personal taste matters to anyone, it’s a wine lover.

This is where the UnSpiral Cellar comes in. Inspired by the aesthetic of the classic Spiral Cellar, it is a far more versatile alternative. Made from smooth limestone concrete, this twist (for want of a better term) in the brand’s history will enhance the decor of any space.

Up to 38 modular pieces can be rearranged into innumerable configurations. It’s an innovative solution for anyone with a specific vision of how they want to showcase their wines, be that along the side of a stairwell or the length of a room or in a much smaller cellar, more akin to a piece of furniture.

So versatile is the UnSpiral cellar that it can even be showcased under the stairs

Within each modular piece, wines can be stacked by bottle, stored neatly in a case, or placed on pegs with their labels displayed. And all modules can be fitted with an LED display too.

Those who want to simulate the conditions of a professional underground cellar will be glad to know the UnSpiral Cellar can also be fitted with climate control.

Managing director Lucy Hargreaves explains, ‘Our customers will have the option of taking complete charge of their UnSpiral Cellar design, from the size and configuration, to the final installation, or they can let us do it for them. Either way, it’s a true step towards the democratisation of in-home wine cellaring.’

Prices start from £5,000, varying according to arrangement and number of components. For more information, visit Spiral Cellars
